Trident Dental Laboratories has joined the growing network of ShadeVision users helping to improve the accuracy of shade taking and communication between the dentist and laboratory. The ShadeVision System, manufactured by X-Rite, is a handheld, cordless device that incorporates a precise, consistent light source that ensures correct color assessment.

Dentists using the ShadeVision System can take an accurate reading in three simple steps: Attaching the disposable tip, calibrating the system and measuring the shade of the tooth surface. Once the images are captured, the ShadeVision System uploads the images to the dentist’s personal computer for processing and documentation in the patient’s files. Through an electronic file, disc or printed report of the color map, the accurate shade information is communicated to Trident Dental Laboratories. The lab technician uses this information to prepare and then verify the restoration.

The ShadeVision System has many unique features that other digital shade matching systems lack, including the “Virtual Try-In Feature,” which allows the lab technician to virtually test the shade of the restoration before it is sent back to the dentist. Integration of the ShadeVision System will help Trident Dental Laboratories improve productivity, reduce the remake rate, and minimize patient office visits while delivering the highest quality esthetic restorations.
